At Old North Abbey, we believe that Sunday morning worship is critical to the life of Christians. Actually,we believe it is one of those things that makes us Christian. Faith is practiced best in community, and we understand worship to be about practicing our faith together. So, at Old North Abbey, we embody a whole spectrum of practices that enrich our lives as Christians. We sing, we pray, we read scripture, we have a time of confession, of peace, of silence, of giving, and of course we take communion (eating together). And, every Sunday we hear these closing words, “Go out into the world rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit!” Why? We want to engage the world around us, not simply observe it. At Old North Abbey, we are participating with God for the Life of the World. We believe that God loves all of creation, and wants us to participate with Him in bringing life to it. Worshiping together is essentially being life-giving. If we don’t do it on Sunday, we probably won’t do it during the week. So, participating with God is not just a Sunday thing, not just a during the week thing, it’s an all-the-time thing.
